Visitors can admire the unique panorama of the Bohemian Central Range, deep forests of the Krušné (Ore) Mountains and Lužické (Lusatian) Mountains, and the elegant meanders and landscape along the Elbe river. There are many ski centres offering ideal conditions for both downhill and cross-country skiing, while the Elbe sandstones are very popular among climbers.

The Ústí Region is situated in the northern part of the Czech Republic. The distance from the regional capital Ústí nad Labem to Prague is 93 km, to Dresden only 63 km. The rail connection between Ústí and Dresden belongs to the international multimodal transport corridor. The Elbe waterway allows ships to navigate all way to Hamburg, Germany. The most important ports are Děčín and Ústí nad Labem. The nearest international airports are Prague-Ruzyně (100 km), Carlsbad (120 km), and Dresden (63 km).
